Marketing and communication services

About

I currently work as a freelance communications and marketing consultant, specialising in strategy, campaigns and digital content for arts, heritage and cultural organisations.

Alongside consultancy projects, I currently work with Scottish Ensemble as Digital Content Manager and with New Contemporaries as Communications Manager, leading communications strategy, campaigns and digital storytelling.

Previously I worked for eight years at The National Lottery Heritage Fund, where I led the organisation’s social media strategy, content and digital campaigns. I managed a small team and budget and developed the organisation’s social media presence from the ground up, introducing systems, editorial planning and online listening tools.

During my time there, social media audiences grew from around 19,000 to more than 150,000 followers, reaching millions of users each month and significantly increasing engagement. I developed widely recognised digital campaigns including #HeritageFromHome, #HeritageIsOpen and #HeritageTreasures Day, which trended nationally and reached over 40 million users.

I was also a key member of the Corporate PR team, contributing to major national campaigns and partnerships with organisations including Arts Council England, National Trust, Wildlife Trusts, Natural History Museum and Victoria and Albert Museum.

Campaign highlights included leading heritage activity for The National Lottery Promotions Unit, developing an exhibition at the Horniman Museum and Gardens showcasing nature projects funded by the Heritage Fund, and coordinating a national PR moment projecting “heritage heroes” onto Stonehenge following the COVID-19 lockdowns.

Earlier in my career I worked across communications and digital roles at organisations including Camden Arts Centre, South London Gallery and Whitechapel Gallery. At Camden Arts Centre I developed and implemented a new digital strategy, including launching a new website, e-newsletter, online archive and online shop, and integrating digital content within the gallery space.

I have also worked with a wide range of cultural organisations including Tate, The Hepworth Wakefield, Morris Hargreaves McIntyre and University of the Arts London.
